Radiator flux is a mixture of zinc chloride solution, Hydrochloric acid and ammonium chloride with some special additives in an ideal ration which gives best cleansing action on metal surfaces.
Radiator flux is a acidic solution. Due to the oxides dissolving ability of the zinc chloride, Radiator flux is primarily used to clean the brass and cropper surfaces from organic contaminants and oxides. It is also used in other assembling operations like Tube –milling, Tube end dipping, core –baking and other processes for automotive radiators and heater cores.
